No wonder why I see so many people complain. The top 3 options in the poll are also the top 3 worst options. Only going one week or longer can ensure that you see a decent amount of high-quality submissions.

But there are tons of high-quality artists who don't get a deserving amount of attention. :|

Mostly, I find that too many artists don't try hard enough to interact with other deviants. You have to give to get, and not enough deviants want to give. They just want pageviews, they just want favourites, they just want comments.

If a deviant isn't willing to put themselves out there into the community and make themselves known to people, they can't expect to get a whole lot of exposure or feedback.

I find that this is true, only to an extent and it doesn't apply to all members. When you're just starting out on this site, even if your work is stunning, it's tough to compete with someone who has thousands of watchers. There's only so much they can do.

There's only so much they can do in a given period of time. To me, it seems like everyone's super-impatient to get known. I find that it takes time to become known, sometimes. Other times, it's simply a fluke that people become famous overnight.

(Also, I have my homepage on Newest. Just thought I'd put that out there. :slow:)

Oh yeah, that's true too. I had a friend who joined dA and was very inactive. Then she'd complain when she got no attention. It took me a couple of years to build up some kind of constant flow of attention.

Same here, lol. This is technically my second account, and I originally joined in February of 2004. It took me quite a few years before I started to get noticed. :slow:

I find that a lot of high-quality artists don't get enough attention because they don't try hard enough. You need to put your work out there, or no one will know it exists.

Viewing by one week still allows me to see high-quality work from artists I know, while showing me others from new artists as well. Even after 7 years here, I find new, high-quality photographers.
