Journal Skins: FAQ

Journal Entry: Fri Dec 10, 2010, 7:45 PM
Facebook l Blog l Twitter l Services l FAQ

:lightbulb: Can I use your journal skins?

You need to be a premium member to use any journal skins. With that being said, anyone on deviantART can use my journal skins as long as they leave the credits.

:lightbulb: How do I install journal skins?

  1. Install the journal skin.
    Click on this . . .
    one by TwiggyTeeluck

    and . . .
    two by TwiggyTeeluck
  2. Apply the journal skin in your journal.
    Create a new journal entry:
    three by TwiggyTeeluck

    Go to the options tab:
    four by TwiggyTeeluck

Scroll down and click on “Choose a skin”:
    five by TwiggyTeeluck

Click on the skin you want and click on “Ok”:
    six by TwiggyTeeluck

And now it should look like this:
    seven by TwiggyTeeluck

  3. Applying the divs.
Click on the “Journal Text” tab:
    eight by TwiggyTeeluck

And copy and paste this code into the content section:

    <div class="jcustom"><div class="titles">YOUR TITLE HERE</div>
JOURNAL TEXT HERE   JOURNAL TEXT HERE   JOURNAL TEXT HERE
    </div>

The divs are the additional boxes in a journal. The text you're reading now is in a div. Each div has a name. Normally, in my journal skins, the divs are always titled "jcustom" or they begin with "jcustom" so just scroll through the CSS and look for it if you're not sure what it's called. =)

*Edit: My newer journal skins have the div name in the box itself in the preview image of the journal skin.
Take a look at this journal skin for example:
    Wind by TwiggyTeeluck

You'll notice the titles of each section are some kind of box. The first box is titled "regular_box" because it's a regular box and to use it, just copy and paste this into your "Content" section:
    <div class="regular_box"><div class="titles">YOUR TITLE HERE</div>
JOURNAL TEXT HERE   JOURNAL TEXT HERE   JOURNAL TEXT HERE
    </div>

The third box is called "scroll_box" because it's a scroll box and to use it, just copy and paste this into your "Content" section:
    <div class="scroll_box"><div class="titles">YOUR TITLE HERE</div>
JOURNAL TEXT HERE   JOURNAL TEXT HERE   JOURNAL TEXT HERE
    </div>

Get it? All you have to do is replace the name of the first div class with the name of the box you want to get the div/box you want. =]
  4. Change the URLS in the links in the header.
    urlheader by TwiggyTeeluck

Under the "Options" tab, just edit the "Skin Header".

:lightbulb: Do you take requests?

I commission customized journal skins. Basically, I make them so that they're customized to exactly what you want. =]

What's the price?
$10 (US) or 800 dA points for each journal skin.

How will I pay you?
PayPal is the easiest way.

How will I get my journal skin?
Right now, I'm thinking I'll just email you the .txt file with the codes. But if you have a better idea, feel free to share.

How do I tell you I want a journal skin?
Just note me and let me know what you want.

Can I see examples of your work?
You can see some of my journal skins here: bloodpromiser.deviantart.com/g…

:lightbulb: I have an idea for a journal skin you should make!

You can leave your suggestions here.

:lightbulb: Where can I see all your journal skins?

:lightbulb: I have a question that wasn't answered here.

Please ask. =)

I think I got this journal installed

twiggyteeluck.deviantart.com/a…

And when I installed it, it went straight to the writing part. I don't see an options part and I also wish to remove the site links on the top. How do I remove the links?

i am copy/pasting the ones you provided in the journal itself, then looked at your tutorial and tried changing the names to match, but still no success

Copy and paste the journal does I've provided in the description for the specific journal skin you're using. Don't change the names. :)

still the same issue ^^; the preview isn't responding to the jcustom code in the deviation description it's just appearing as it is written rather than activate the boxes

I've just tried it and the everything seems to be working fine for me. So either you're doing something wrong or it's a bug. deviantART looks like it's been making a few changes lately, so it's possible that it is a bug. :)

Let me know how it goes! And if it's still not working and you're absolutely sure you're copying and pasting the codes correctly, wait a few days and maybe try again? Because, like I said, it could just be a bug. Good luck! :glomp:

For some reason, even when I copy and paste the jcustom code, it doesn't work :iconpapmingplz:
