The Great Awakening is a very striking piece; it combines an excellent choice of stock in its composition along with a very attactive palette.

There are two points which I feel prevent this work form achieving its full potential:

1. The brushes used for the birds are noticeably repeated, making it seem lass natural.

2. The land looks a little too high on the right; it would have been nice to see a slightly more level terrain which would have given more room above the tree for the birds to swirl.

Even given these two critisicms I still highly rate the picture, especially as this is a first attempt. Hopefully further practice and experimentation will result in increasing improvements.
